The University of Rhode Island's professional and public writing department held its 8th annual National Day of Writing event in the North Woods. The two-day program welcomed over 600 URI students and 50 elementary schoolers to write poetry and explore the connections between language, nature, and climate change on the trails. The event was a collaboration between professors Stephanie West-Puckett and Madison Jones, who aimed to bring the National Writing Project's Write Out initiative to the local community.
