NMU Hosts Upper Peninsula’s First Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, Boosting Local Participation and Recognition

Northern Michigan University hosted the Upper Peninsula’s first regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards ceremony, significantly increasing accessibility for local participants. The Northern Shores Storywork Writing Project, directed by Kel Sassi, facilitated 113 submissions, with 43% of them receiving awards. Notably, Shelby Thurber and Nevaeh Carter from Gwinn High School earned recognition for their creative writing pieces.
