The Niobrara National Scenic River and The Nebraska Writing Project collaborated on the "Write the River: Creative Writing Float and Art Experience," which won the 2022 National Park Service Regional Education in Excellence award. This program engaged high-school students in a unique educational journey down the river, combining creative writing and art creation, led by NPS Rangers and teacher-consultants. The program is now a contender for the National Award alongside winners from other regional National Parks.
