The National Writing Project's goal is simple yet extremely difficult: to improve writing in America.

Locally, the experiment is working magnificently. Teachers in our area who participate in the Northeastern Pennsylvania Writing Project attend East Stroudsburg University for four weeks in the summer, earning six graduate credits. They take what they learned at ESU back into their classrooms and schools.

On Saturday, four teachers received awards for the work they have done with the NPWP. Each one received recognition for the way she used the program to help others find their creative voices.
