Budget System
Overview
Each site director (or delegate) starts every new program year by submitting a requested budget through this online system, and then reenters the system as needed to revise active budgets, which remain available for editing until a full program year has been completed. At the end of each program year, a final revision of that year's budget data is prepared and submitted through this online system to the NWP national office. The data from the final budget are used for statistical analysis by NWP researchers. In addition, the budgets and analyses will be reviewed in February as part of NWP's annual peer review of all Continued Funding Applications from sites.
What's New?
For the first time this year, sites will prepare and submit requested budgets through the online budget system. Sites may apply for $46,000 in core funding for 2009-2010, using the Core budget worksheet. If the site is applying for a special-focus network (SFN) minigrant (http://www.nwp.org/cs/public/print/doc/programs/sfn/grants.csp), a separate budget worksheet will be used for this purpose and must be submitted in this budget system in order to complete your minigrant application. Note: Sites will find budget worksheets available for all SFN minigrants. Use only the budget worksheets for the grants for which the site is applying.
Accessing the Budget System
Initially, only NWP site directors are able to access the budget system, but a site director may log in to the system and delegate the preparation and submission of budget data to other people, provided those people have established NWPi profiles with the correct writing project site affiliation. Last year's delegates must be reauthorized by the director before they will have access to the system.
